Telethon Speech &
Hearing has a long and proud history of supporting speech, language
and hearing-impaired children and their families. Our
auditory-verbal based therapy gives children the opportunity to
develop spoken language as their primary means of communication.
Our Centre provides
Western Australia with world-class programs and services. Our
programs include playgroup, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and
pre-primary classes as well as support for school-aged children. Our
services include newborn hearing screening, a specialised ear clinic
for children, cochlear implant programs for local and overseas
children, distance education for regional families and a mobile ear
health clinic.
Early intervention for
children with speech, language or hearing impairments is critically
important. The earlier we intervene, the better the level of success
achieved. Our early intervention services start as soon as a child
is diagnosed, often in the first weeks of life.
